WHY ME LORD – Wolfgang Hildebrandt
WHY ME LORD - Being a Christian is something truly wonderful. Kris Kristofferson captured that feeling so beautifully in his timeless song, “Why Me Lord.” It is more than just a song—it is a prayer, a testimony, and a humble expression of gratitude for God’s grace.
At every concert, I am honored to sing this song. Years ago, I also had the great blessing of performing it often with my dear friend, the legendary Andraé Crouch. Those moments remain deeply meaningful to me and have given this song an even more personal place in my heart.
“What makes ‘Why Me Lord’ so powerful is the way it brings faith into the honest, down-to-earth language of country music. It reminds us that no matter where life takes us, we can pause, look upward, and simply say: ‘Lord, why me? What have I ever done to deserve even one of the pleasures I’ve known?’
That is the beauty of this song: it touches the soul, offers hope, and reminds us all that faith, humility, and gratitude are gifts worth singing about.”
